Top Tip!

There are few things more comforting than dousing a meal in gravy! You could pour this low protein gravy on Sweet Potato Fries or roasted vegetables. This Caramelised Onion Gravy is free for MSUD and ideal for those on a low protein diet.

Ingredients

  • 20g Butter
  • 1 Red onion, sliced
  • 1 tsp Brown sugar
  • 4 heaped tsp Bisto onion gravy granules
  • 330ml Water, boiling

Method

  1. Melt butter in a pan over a medium heat and add the red onions.
  2. Fry for 10 mins until soft.
  3. Add the sugar and fry for another 10 minutes on a low heat until caramelised and sticky.
  4. In a measuring jug, make up the onion gravy according to packet instructions.
  5. Add to the onions and stir to combine then serve.
